GPCA Canoe For Cancer has now raised almost $200,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society. In doing this we have not only supported a worthy cause but we have established a caring cottage community that really makes a difference by playing and working together. This year's event: Date: September 4, 2011 This is a GPCA event that each and every member can participate in. You can paddle, you can canvas, you can escort, you can help with refreshments, or you can sponsor one of our participants (the more pledges we receive the easier it will be to reach our goal). The greater your involvement, the more successful we will be. Many GPCA members make this a real family outing with two and even three generations taking part. Our paddlers ranged from age 7 to seasoned retirees with all ages in between. We can help you find a paddling partner or even a canoe. We are also happy to supply a letter to high school students for volunteer hours. So mark your calendars now and plan to join us on Sunday September 4th at 8:30am. Some details are still to be finalized. Watch for further information on our website, on our notice boards and through GPCA emails. Even if you don’t paddle with us please support us through your sponsorship. Note from our coordinators: THANK YOU FOR PARTICIPATING! As we know, whenever an event takes place in the water, we must always think "Safety First". We ask that you review the fotlowing terms and conditions with respect to this event. There are minor changes that we feel respect the safety of all involved and our wish is to have a fun and enjoyable event.
How the Day is Organized There will be two heats at this year's Canoe for Cancer event.
Complimentary Lunch will be served starting at approx. 2:00pm at our end destination. Canoe for Cancer is in its 11 th yearl We are proud of our previous history and partnership with the Canadian Cancer Society and we remind everyone that this is a pledge driven event. Receipts will be issued for donations of $20.00 or more unless otherwise requested. It is important that the donors full name, address, AND postal code are included on the pledge sheets so that receipts can be issued promptly and without error. The Canadian Cancer Society is a volunteer based organization whose mission Is the eradication of cancer and the enhancement of the lives of those living with cancer. Funds raised from this year's Canoe for Cancer Event are directed to life saving research, the transportation program, and peer support programs.
